I am in a village with some of the Pigmy
men.
These children need a Christian
school.
There are many orphan children because of AIDS.

Ministry Description
Bryan and
Cheri Stensaas are Independent Baptist Missionaries working presently in the
country of Uganda, East Africa. They are
sent out from a great church, Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall,
Missouri. They are proud to have Brother Steve Raglin as their Pastor and
friend.

Bryan received
Christ in the military in Rota, Spain and Cheri received Christ at Highland Park
Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee where Bryan was attending Bible
College. They began their ministry in 1979 as missionaries to the military,
starting churches for military families outside of US military bases in
Europe. Bryan began working with
Dr. Edward Woodfield in Torrejon, Spain and later pastored the church
there. While in Spain, Bryan and
Cheri helped start other churches throughout the country.
After eight years they
returned to the states and pastored the Faith Baptist Church in Sedalia,
Missouri for two and one half years.
It was there that the Lord directed them to Africa where they have been
since 1994. They live in Mbarara, Uganda which is in the south western part of
Uganda. Bryan has started several churches throughout Uganda and
is presently the pastor of the Independent Baptist Church of Mbarara which
he also started.

Bryan and Cheri have
both taught in the Bible Institutes which were started to train the
Ugandan men and women to serve the Lord. Cheri also teaches the "Women of
Faith Bible study and has her own 5 day a week radio broadcast called "Ladies
Tea Time." Cheri has also been involved in teaching children's Sunday
School classes.
One of the
highlights of their ministry is Christian Radio. Bryan started two
Christian radio stations in Uganda. Calvary Radio in Soroti and Life
Radio in Mbarara. He is currently the Director of Life Radio, a
500 watt Christian FM station where the Gospel is proclaimed throughout the
Abankole region 18 1/2 hour broadcast day.

Statement of
Faith
1 We believe in THE HOLY
SCRIPTURES:
- accepting fully the writings of the Old and New
Testaments as the very Word of GOD;
- verbally inspired in all parts and therefore, wholly without error as
originally given by GOD;
- altogether sufficient in themselves as our only infallible and
authoritative rule of faith and practice
(2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
2 We believe in THE ONE TRIUNE GOD:
- who
is personal, Spirit and sovereign;
- perfect, infinite and eternal in His Being, holiness, love, wisdom and
power;
- absolutely separate and above the world as its Creator, yet everywhere
present in the world as the
Upholder of all things;
- self-existent and self-revealing in three
distinct persons - - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each having a
distinct ministry in GOD's relation to His creation and
people.
(Genesis 1:1; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 John 5:7)
3 We believe in THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST:
- who
is the second person of the Triune GOD;
- the
eternal Word and only Begotten Son;
- without any change in his divine Person, He became man by miracle of the
Virgin Birth, thus to continue
forever as both true God and
true Man, one Person with two natures;
- that
as Man, He was tempted in all points as we are, yet without
sin;
- that
as the perfect Lamb of God, He gave Himself in death upon the cross becoming
there the sin of the
world and suffering its full penalty of divine wrath in our
stead;
- that
He arose bodily from the grave and was glorified;
- that
as our great High Priest He ascended into the Heaven, there to appear before the
face of God as our
Advocate and Intercessor.
(John 1:1-2; I John 5:20; Matthew 1:20; Luke 2:26-28)
4 We believe in THE HOLY SPIRIT:
- who
is the third Person of the Trinity, and the divine Agent in nature, revelation
and redemption;
- that
He convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness, and
judgment;
- that He regenerates, indwells, seals,
and anoints all who become children of God through Christ;
- that
all children of God are baptized in the Holy Spirit at
salvation.
- He further empowers, guides, teaches, sanctifies
and fills believers who daily surrender to Him.
(2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16-17; Romans
8:14-27)
5 We
believe ALL MEN ARE BY NATURE AND CHOICE SINFUL AND LOST:
- that man was the
direct creation of God, made in His image and likeness;
- that by personal
disobedience to the revealed will of God, man became a sinful creature, the
father
of a fallen race
which is universally sinful in both nature and practice;
- thus alienated from
the life and family of God, under the righteous judgment and wrath of God,
and
has within himself no
possible means of salvation.
(Romans
3:23,5:12; Galatians 3:22)
6 We believe in SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH
FAITH:
- that salvation is
the free gift of God, neither merited nor secured in part or in whole by any
virtue or
work of man but
received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom all true
believers have
as a present
possession, the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, son ship in the
family of God,
deliverance, and
security from all condemnation, every spiritual resource needed for life and
godliness,
and the divine
guarantee that they shall never perish;
- that this
salvation affects the whole man;
- that apart from
Christ there is no possible salvation.
(Ephesians
2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:21, 7:9-10; Romans 6:23, 10:9,
10:10,13)
7 We believe in RIGHTEOUS LIVING AND GODLY
WORKS:
- not as a means of
salvation in any sense, but as its proper evidence and fruit;
- as Christians, we
should obey the Word of our Lord, seek the things which are above, walk as He
walked, and accept as
our solemn responsibility the duty and privilege of bearing the Gospel to a lost
world;
- remembering that a
victorious and fruitful Christian life is possible only for those who in
gratitude
for the infinite and
undeserved mercies of God have presented themselves wholly to
Christ;
(Titus 2:11-14;
Ephesians 2:10)
8 We believe in THE EXISTENCE OF SATAN:
- who
originally was created a holy and perfect being, but through pride and wicked
ambition
rebelled
against God, thus becoming utterly depraved in character;
- that he
is the great adversary of God and His people, leader of all other evil angels
and spirits, the
deceiver,
and god of this present world;
- that
his powers are vast, but strictly limited by the permissive will of God who
overrules all his
wicked
devices for good;
- that he was
defeated and judged at the cross and his final doom is
certain;
- that we are
able to resist and overcome him only in the armor of God, by the blood of the
Lamb, and
through the
power of the Holy Spirit.
(Revelation 12:9;
Ezekiel 28:14-17; Isaiah 14:12-15)
9 We believe in THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST:
- that His return
from heaven will be personal, visible and glorious; - a blessed Hope for which we
should
constantly watch
and pray; - the time
being unrevealed, but always imminent;
- that when He
comes, He will first by resurrection of the dead and translation of the living
remove from
the earth the saved,
then pour out the righteous judgments of God upon the unbelieving world,
afterwards
descend with His
Church and establish His glorious and literal kingdom over all the nations for
a
thousand
years.
(Acts 1: 11; I Thessalonians 4: 13-17;
Revelation 19: 11-16, 20:6)
10 We believe in THE LOCAL CHURCH:
- that the
Scriptures teach that a local church is a congregation of immersed believers,
associated by
covenant of
faith and fellowship of the Gospel;
- observing the
ordinances of Christ governed by His laws and exercising the gifts, rights
and
privileges invested
in them by His Word;
- we believe the
true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ by all men as we
have
opportunity, and the
building up and edifying of the saints;
- we hold that the
local church has the absolute right of self government free from the
interference of
any hierarchy of
individuals or organizations and that the one and only head is Christ through
the
Holy
Spirit.
(Matthew 16:18, 18:15-20; Acts 2:41,47,
14:23; Romans 16:17-20; I Corinthians 4:17, 11:23;
I Timothy
3; Titus 1)
11 We believe in BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S
SUPPER:
-
that Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in
water, in the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and
of the Holy Ghost, to show forth in solemn and beautiful emblem of our faith in
the crucified,
buried,
and risen Saviour, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new
life that it is a
prerequisite to church membership;
- that the
Lord's supper is the commemoration, by the use of bread and cup by the believer,
of the death of
Christ
until He comes again;
- to be preceded
always by solemn self-examination.
(Matthew
3:6,16,28:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42,8:36-39; Romans 6:4-5; I Corinthians
11:23-28;
Colossians
2:12)
12 We believe in SEPARATION FROM ALL FORMS OF
APOSTASY:
- that modernism,
liberalism, and any other gospel and form other than the Gospel of the Lord
Jesus
Christ, are not
of God and that we as believers should have no fellowship with, and separate
ourselves
from all
alliances, churches, groups, and organizations that sanction such
doctrines;
- that the ecumenical and
Charismatic movements which are being used to unite “Christendom” into
a one world church
is against
the teaching of the Word of God, and that tongues, prophecy and the gift of
knowledge has ceased and therefore
what is being
done today in these areas is not of God.
(Acts
19:8-10; Romans 16:17-18; I Corinthians 6:14-18, chapters 13 and 14; 2
Corinthians 6:14-18;
Galatians
1:8-10; Ephesians 5:11; 2Peter2:1-2; 1 John 2:22; 2 John 1:7-11; Revelation
18:4-5)
