January Update 2008
January got started off great with our mission conference. Last year we had a faith promise of 1,000,000 UGS which is about $588. We met the goal with 1,038,000 UGS ($610). On the final night of the conference we took up a faith promise of 1,150,000 UGS ($676). I guess we can say that our church has given over a million to missions (maybe not). It is steady solid growth as people are learning to trust the Lord. Pray that God will bless them as many have not had jobs throughout the past year but somehow they still gave. Pastor
Bernard from Kampala was the main speaker and did a wonderful job for the Lord. His wife also taught the ladies at a special ladies tea.

We also had other victories in January. We had two weddings. Those of you who have followed our prayer letters know the great
importance of a Christian wedding here. The first wedding was the policeman we had mentioned in the past who had been saved a few
months ago. Once he got saved and started discipleship he found out he was not properly married. He came to me and said, “Pastor,
I must get properly wed so I can join this church.” What a wedding we had. They entered and exited through a corridor of a police
honor guard with crossed swords. It was quite a sight.
You have to be ready for anything here. One lady from the bride’s side decided the veil needed to be lifted back over the bride’s head,
soooooo she came forward and did it for her. The bride and groom light the unity candle but the best man decided the groom needed his
help so he also took the candle and lit it with the bride. The bride’s maids decided they wanted to set in the congregation, so they did
(for about five minutes) before deciding they now wanted to come on the platform and face the audience so people could see them too.
Common sense is not always the rule here. You must have patience and be very very flexible.
The other wedding was my right hand man Brother Stephen. Stephen had the privilege of leading Caroline (his bride) to Christ and
discipling her. We had a wonderful wedding several hours away in Kanungu deep in the bush close to where we work with the Pigmies.
Pray for us! God is blessing and souls are being saved and discipled. Until our next prayer letter, God bless and thank you all for your prayers and support.
