Ministry Description

Bryan and Cheri Stensaas are Independent Baptist Missionaries working presently in the country of Uganda, East Africa. They are sent out from a great church, Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall, Missouri.  They are proud to have Brother Steve Raglin as their Pastor and friend.

Bryan received Christ in the military in Rota, Spain and Cheri received Christ at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee where Bryan was attending Bible College. They began their ministry in 1979 as missionaries to the military, starting churches for military families outside of US military bases in Europe. Bryan began working with Dr. Edward Woodfield in Torrejon, Spain and later pastored the church there. While in Spain, Bryan and Cheri helped start other churches throughout the country.

After eight years they returned to the states and pastored the Faith Baptist Church in Sedalia, Missouri for two and one half years. It was there that the Lord directed them to Africa where they have been since 1994. They live in Mbarara, Uganda which is in the south western part of Uganda.  Bryan has started several churches throughout Uganda and is presently the pastor of the Independent Baptist Church of Mbarara which he also started.

Bryan and Cheri have both taught in the Bible Institutes which were started to train the Ugandan men and women to serve the Lord.  Cheri also teaches the “Women of Faith Bible study and has her own 5 day a week radio broadcast called “Ladies Tea Time.”  Cheri has also been involved in teaching children’s Sunday School classes.

One of the highlights of their ministry is Christian Radio.  Bryan started two Christian radio stations in Uganda.  Calvary Radio in Soroti and Life Radio in Mbarara.  He is currently the Director of Life Radio, a 500 watt Christian FM station where the Gospel is proclaimed throughout the Abankole region 18 1/2 hour broadcast day.
