May-June 09
Praise the Lord! God has been so good to us thus far on furlough. In May and June we have been throughout Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Rhode Island, Toronto Canada, and Ohio. By the time you receive this, we will be back in Missouri to celebrate the 4th of July with our home church.
I thank God for my wonderful wife who has not complained once about having to live out of a car for months at a time. I know ironing clothes on a bed and repacking suitcases every other day is not easy for a lady.
Our vehicle is 13 years old and has not given us one problem thus far. Don’t quit praying; we are not done yet.
We have had some great meetings and many decisions have been made. We pray that God will continue to use us throughout our furlough.
We have been reacquainted with Pastors and friends that we have not seen for years. What a blessing to see many standing for Christ in these times.
It has been our prayer that the ministry in Uganda would continue well in our absence. I received an email from Pastor Mwijuka April 27th which stated that they had 7 souls saved through Life Radio and 3 in church. On May 8th they had 3 saved and 1 baptized in church. On the 12th, 3 more were saved and 2 came for baptism.
I received messages that many had contacted Life Radio and requested that the staff come and explain the gospel further to them. Listen to what Robert wrote on June 24th, “We are also encouraging the 45+ people that prayed and received Jesus to prepare to come to the 1st Listener’s conference scheduled to take place on 26th and 27th Aug. 2009.” Please pray for this meeting and Pastor Mwijuka as he deals with these precious souls.
Work is progressing at the church for Project HOPE. Construction has begun and the foundation is being laid.. They will be tying the iron bars for the columns and putting in the hard core and cement next.
They have also continued to make the bricks. There should be around 20,000 in this bunch waiting to be fired.
There is a different brand of “Christianity” in America than I remember. I find opportunities to witness in the strangest places. I witnessed to a lady working in a “Christian bookstore” who had no clue of salvation. I talked to a man who was passing out tracts. He said he was saved, yet he had no idea how he became a Christian or how anyone else could go to heaven. Another guy I was witnessing to admitted that the music of his Christian country band was so loud and wild that people couldn’t really get the message. You are on the front lines of a spiritual battle here in America.
Because of Christ,
Bryan and Cheri Stensaas
