July-Aug 09

Praise the Lord! God has been so good to us thus far on furlough. In July and August we have had the privilege of filling in for our pastor for a few weeks while he was on vacation. This also gave us time to be with our friends at our home church. It is such a privilege to be sent out from such a loving, caring and mission minded church.

We have had meetings throughout MO and into KY and TX the last two months.

Please don’t stop praying for us. We were stranded five times alongside the road going to TX and at least five more on the way back to MO. We actually had to rent a car in OKC to get to the meeting in the Dallas area. We thought we had it fixed until it quit again going through Saint Louis on the way to another meeting. The mechanic says there is nothing they can find wrong with it.

We have had some great meetings and many decisions have been made. We pray that God will continue to use us throughout our furlough.

We mentioned in our last prayer letter that Pastor Mwijuka was seeing several saved through the radio broadcasts. Since our last prayer letter he has reported that 161 people have prayed to receive Christ as their personal Saviour. Some from different villages have come to Mbarara for a special meeting on the 27th of August to receive instruction and get started on discipleship lessons. This meeting was a great success. Pastor has traveled to many villages to counsel and help them get started in their new life in Christ. However, because there are so many, he has decided to record and broadcast the discipleship lessons over Life Radio.

Please continue to pray for the Radio outreach in Uganda. This is a valuable tool to reach people for Christ.

Work is progressing at the church for Project HOPE. As you can see from the pictures below that the foundation is now covered and the floor for the lower level has been completed. The columns will now be raised and poured.

Work is much slower in Uganda as everything is done by hand. We look forward with great anticipation to the day that we can start receiving and training the orphans.

Once the building is finished and we start taking in the children we will be needing the monthly support to take care of them. We want to start several project that will eventually make the orphanages self supporting but like many things in Uganda, this will take some time to get set up and in place.

Please pray with us and for us that God will raise up the needed support to take care of the orphans until we get project HOPE self-supporting.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support for our ministry in Uganda

Because of Christ,

Bryan and Cheri Stensaas
