Sometimes when things happen, I ask myself, “Is the Lord preparing me for something or is He just leading me another step closer in dependence on Him?” Such were the thoughts that were going through my head as I drove our family home from Kampala.
Thursday we took our monthly trip to Kampala with the whole family. Besides our usual business, Keith had a doctor’s appointment. What we thought would be a simple visit ended up being outpatient surgery. Any treatment or sickness that Keith has, his body acts very extreme against. Within an hour Keith was running a fever with chills and shaking. Friday morning he tried to drive around Kampala, but finally gave up and told me that I would have to drive us home to Masaka. I don’t even like driving in the States and just tolerate driving in Masaka. Dad Stensaas has been to many countries, and he even says that he has not seen such dangerous drivers as there are here. Therefore, for me to take the wheel – I could have only accomplished it by your prayers. THANK YOU FOR PRAYING! Even three days after the surgery, Keith has still not recovered; and for him to miss a church service – he is sick! Please continue to pray for him.
This morning we had one man saved in the service and two visitors. Yesterday, a lady was saved at our preaching point in Lukiya and another gained permission from her Muslim husband to start attending the services. (By the way, while in Kampala, I saw the front page of a magazine with the headlines “Muslims Plan To Take Over Uganda.” This country needs Christ!)
The end of the year is already filling up with much activity. This Friday I am having my Sunday School ladies over for a special get-together. Next Saturday we have a church supper at the church for all of those that participated in our Operation Search & Rescue Campaign. The following week will be Thanksgiving with us celebrating on Friday with three other families at our house. The first week of December will end the school year at Grace Christian School and for our college. Just a few days after that, we will be taking Rebekah to the airport. Then Andrew & Jacky’s family will be staying with us for a couple of days before we all converge upon Matt & Keila for Christmas. And looking ahead to 2010 – we have visitors scheduled from January – May. Oh—and school starts again in January. Praise the Lord for the strength He provides; without Him, we could do nothing!
Thank you for your notes of encouragement you write to us and especially for your prayers. May God bless you with a wonderful week.
