February - March, 2009

God is so good to us.  What a blessing and honor it is to serve Him in this life, for only He is worthy to receive glory, honor, and praise!

Grace Christian School: The month of February began in full force with much going on. Grace Christian School started its first term of its second year with thirty-four students, thirty of them being from our orphan/boarding ministry.  Pray for our teachers this year that the Lord will use them in the lives of our children.  They are Brother Okello Wilson, Miss Pross Namuyimba, and Miss Rebekah Tracht, who has just joined our ministry this year from Washington.

Masaka Baptist College: Masaka Baptist College also started a new term with a verse-by-verse study through the Book of Acts.  We have ten students, and it looks as if we will have one graduation at the end of this year.  Pray for Brother JJ Kalanzi that nothing will distract his intention of graduating.  Brother JJ is also in charge of our Orphan ministry; and he and his wife, Harriet, are doing a wonderful job.

Sunday Evening Service: In a day when many churches are no longer having a Sunday evening service, I desire to assemble “so much the more as we see the day approaching.”  Because of security problems in the past, we have never had a second service on Sundays, but things have now stabilized in our area.  This new service is focused on teaching the importance of a relationship with God over ministry.  Ministry can only be truly affective as our walk with God is effective.  To my amazement, these services have been packed out.  Praise the Lord!

National Tent Revival: Please pray for our upcoming national tent revival that our church will be hosting in May.  We have invited all national pastors/preachers in Uganda to be a part of this revival service that we pray will be a time of encouragement to our men.

Word of Life Radio: Pray for Word of Life Radio.  By June 30 we need the additional funds to keep the station broadcasting.  Our God is able!

Lives Touched:  This week I took the men soulwinning to a fishing village on Lake Victoria that was 18 miles from our church.  We gave out 1,000 Luganda John booklets and ran out.  I believe this is the first time that this village has ever been saturated with the Gospel.  How surprised I was when a man came running up to me shouting, “Pastor!”  I did not immediately recognize him until he told me that he had been in prison and attended our services that we hold there each week.  We received permission from the police to return and hold open-air preaching services in the future.

On Sunday a man came to church as a result of a John booklet Sally had given him.  He is from the Congo and doesn’t even speak Luganda but does speak French, Swahili, and English.  He was excited to find a Baptist church that is similar to the one he attended in the Congo that preaches and practices the Bible.  Over 1,000 lives have been reached this week with the Gospel because you prayed and gave to our ministry.  Thank You!

The Applegates: Please uphold the Applegate family in your prayers.  The Applegates have been working with our ministry here for three years, but because of pregnancy complications they are returning to the States in April.  Pray for a safe delivery of their baby girl and for the decisions to be made after the birth.  Pray also for the men and myself as we take over the duties that Brother Applegate was involved in.  We need God’s grace and His wisdom to accomplish the tasks ahead.

Thank you once again for your faithful support and prayers.  May God richly bless you as we continue in His ministry together!!
